Capital University has many unique opportunities for young professionals. For students interested in Public Relations as a career, Capital has a chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). PRSSA is an organization dedicated to helping uplift young professionals in the PR world.
My name is Audrey Stone, and I am the former President of PRSSA at Capital University. I am currently a few weeks from graduating with my Bachelor of Arts from Capital University. As graduation approaches, I am reflecting on my time at Capital. I want to share why PRSSA has been a beneficial organization to me in my future career. Capital University has allowed me to grow as a Student and gain experience as the President of PRSSA. In the fall of 2021, I joined PRSSA to connect with students in the same industry as me. With COVID still being a concern, there needed to be more opportunities to communicate with your classmates. After joining, I learned the organization could give me more than connections but opportunities. Later, in my membership to PRSSA, I became president and gained experience working with clients. This experience has helped me gain work opportunities at notable organizations nationwide.
As the president of PRSSA, I created marketing plans and deliverables for multiple clients. The organization met to be able to have time to relax and reset our workload as students and young professionals. Overall, I recommend this organization to anyone interested in PR. I loved my time as president of PRSSA at Capital and can't wait to see how this organization will grow as I start the next chapter of life.
