FMP Day in the Life Article -- Wesley Triplett

Wesley Triplett, sophomore Film and Media Production major at Capital University has taken his skills far beyond the classroom. After a long day of FMP classes, you’ll find him practicing with his band, shooting a documentary, or editing content for the university’s athletics.

Wesley’s projects, which consume much of his after-school hours, are typically ones that take place in a collaborative setting. When shooting different types of video content, him and his peers will each assume their area of expertise to come together and produce great videos. Currently in his classes, Wesley is doing a lot of work with directing and photography.

Today Wesley had multiple shoots on his schedule for projects ranging from a late-night narrative shoot to a church documentary. He spent his afternoon hopping from set to set, adapting to each new filming environment.

He was excited to introduce us to each of his talented peers who were each hard at work focusing on their own sections of production such as audio, editing, or directing.

Wesley started his evening on set for his group’s short film titled “Stone.”

Then, we found him at home editing content for Capital’s Track and Field team, which Wesley is also a part of. He explained that he is grateful for Capital and all the opportunities that he has gotten to find through film and media projects all around the university. At home, he also worked on some editing for a class project.

To end the night, Wesley found himself at a unique location filming a late-night short film that takes place entirely after dark. This is for his Advanced Editing course and requires elevated techniques to capture the content successfully.

The CMC is a home for many FMP students on campus, and Wesley is no exception. He is a shining example of a student who takes advantage of every opportunity that comes his way and Capital’s program continuously opens many doors for students who seek out these opportunities. Look out for future projects from Wesley, we are so lucky to have him!
